    The Glencairn glass was designed in 2001 by Raymond Davidson, and it quietly changed how people drink whisky. Wide bowl to hold the spirit, narrow neck to funnel everything up to your nose. Before it came along, whisky mostly arrived in a tumbler, which is a perfectly good vessel for ice and not much else. One well-shaped object, and suddenly everybody was paying attention.
