Claymore comes from the Gaelic claidheamh mòr, which just means great sword. It was a two-handed thing, in some cases taller than the person swinging it, and it took both arms and a fair amount of commitment to use at all. There's something in that we liked for a wedding ring. Nothing about it was ever half-hearted.
